Churchrock Chapter was established in 1963 by then the Navajo Tribal Council. Today the Chapter has a population of 2,737 citizens. The Churchrock Chapter is the 2nd largest Chapter in the Eastern Agency.Churchrock is the 11th largest Chapter  within the Navajo Nation. This information is in accord to the 2000 Census Count.

The Navajo name for Chuchrock is Kinlitsoh Sinili, a group of yellow houses. The Churchrock Chapter has various sub-communities within the boundary including: Springsteads,  Happy Valley, Hard Ground, Nose Rock, Churchrock Mine, Peretti Canyon, Superman Canyon, Pyramid Rock, Sundance, Coalmine, White Rock Rolling Out, and Whitecliff.
